TARANAKI REGION
Welcome to our beautiful region of Taranaki. Taranaki is a region located in the west of New Zealand's North Island and is the 10th largest region of New Zealand by population.
It is named after the region's main geographical feature, Mount Taranaki. The Taranaki region is made up of three districts: New Plymouth District (population 68,901), Stratford District (8,892) and South Taranaki District (26,484). The two main population centres are New Plymouth and Hawera. The main centre of the Taranaki region is the city of New Plymouth which has been voted the "Top City" of New Zealand. Since 2005, Taranaki has used the promotional brand "Taranaki like no other".
